Meeting with the Members of the Commission for Relations with Slovenians Abroad and Around the World
The American-Slovenian Club and the Embassy of the Republic of Slovenia jointly organized a breakfast gathering as part of a special reception hosted by Ambassador Iztok Mirošič in Washington D.C. This event brought together members of the Slovenian-American community, along with representatives from the business and science sectors, to connect with the Slovenian government and strengthen ties between Slovenia and the United States.
The gathering was further enriched by the visit of the Commission for Relations with Slovenians Abroad and Around the World, which took place between June 3 and 4, 2024. The visit to Washington D.C. marked the final leg of the Commission’s tour through Canada and the USA, which began in Ottawa and included stops in Cleveland and Pittsburgh. The program in Washington focused on acquainting the Commission with the recent and historical activities of the Slovenian community in the DMV area (District of Columbia, Maryland, and Virginia).
Ambassador Mirošič warmly welcomed the Commission at the embassy, providing an overview of the embassy's operations, the consulate in Cleveland, and the network of honorary consuls across the USA. He emphasized the strong relations between Slovenia and the United States, highlighting the vital role of the Slovenian community in fostering collaboration between the two nations.
Ameriško-slovenski klub in Veleposlaništvo Republike Slovenije sta skupaj organizirala zajtrk v okviru posebnega sprejema, ki ga je v Washingtonu D.C. gostil veleposlanik Iztok Mirošič. Dogodek je združil člane slovensko-ameriške skupnosti ter predstavnike iz poslovnega in znanstvenega sektorja, da bi se povezali s slovensko vlado in okrepili vezi med Slovenijo in Združenimi državami.
Zajtrk je dodatno obogatila tudi obisk Komisije za odnose s Slovenci v zamejstvu in po svetu, ki je potekal med 3. in 4. junijem 2024. Obisk v Washingtonu D.C. je predstavljal zadnji del turneje Komisije po Kanadi in ZDA, ki se je začela v Ottawi in vključevala postanke v Clevelandu in Pittsburghu. Program v Washingtonu je bil osredotočen na seznanitev Komisije z nedavnimi in zgodovinskimi dejavnostmi slovenske skupnosti na območju DMV (District of Columbia, Maryland in Virginia).
Veleposlanik Mirošič je Komisijo toplo sprejel na veleposlaništvu in predstavil pregled delovanja veleposlaništva, konzulat v Clevelandu in mrežo častnih konzulov po ZDA. Poudaril je močne odnose med Slovenijo in Združenimi državami ter izpostavil ključno vlogo slovenske skupnosti pri spodbujanju sodelovanja med državama.
